Nose Only Exposure
In this test method, only the nose of the animal is exposed to the test substance. The animal is contained within a specially made holder, this holder is then set into the exposing chamber, and test substances controlled by regulatory concentrations are supplied and exposed. The feature of SIBATA chambers is that the air volume in the inhalation chamber is kept as low as possible, so that the test substance is exposed efficiently; therefore it is well suited for inhalation tests that use expensive samples. this method is applied to inhalation tests when the substance is easily influenced by oral or skin contact.

Our Nose Only Exposure inhalation device has been developed for inhalation toxicity tests of environmental contaminants, kinetic tests and pharmacological tests that are indispensable for the development of pharmaceutical products.
For tests using precious pharmaceutical products or when the toxicity of the substance is high, it is favorable to keep consumption of the exposed substance to a minimum. Consumption has gone down to only a fraction of what had been used in the past. The exhaled substance will not influence the test substance by utilizing a separate air supply(substance intake) tank and exhaust tank.
